Our aim with the Scandinavian Contemporary Whole Home Remodel was to transform traditional and segmented living spaces into open, minimalistic areas that enhance the home’s functionality and sociability. This project focused on creating an environment that would serve as a central hub for family activities and social gatherings, increasing the spaces’ usability and enjoyment.
Before and After: Scandinavian Contemporary Whole Home Evolution
- Before: The original home featured traditional design elements with limited natural light and segmented layouts that separated the living spaces, making it feel confined and less functional for family gatherings.
- After: The transformation into a modern, open-plan home showcases expansive, well-lit spaces that merge seamlessly. The strategic removal of walls and the introduction of a neutral color palette with contemporary finishes significantly brightened the space. The addition of age-in-place features ensures that the home remains functional and accessible for years to come.
The main challenges in this remodel included creating a better layout, improving efficiency, and reflecting the client’s preference for a minimalistic design. The house originally had a more traditional design, and the clients desired a sleek, contemporary aesthetic transformation.
To address these challenges, we embarked on a strategic reconfiguration of the space. That involved creating a more open layout to enhance flow and functionality. We introduced high-end materials such as Crestwood Maple Cabinets for the kitchen and Nexxacore Aurora LVP for the flooring. Modern lighting and customized storage solutions were added to tie the new open-concept home with elegance and reflect the clients’ modern style.
