These homeowners love to entertain and wanted a space that reflected this lifestyle. They also needed their private retreat for those days when they tried to relax. The result was this gorgeous whole-home remodel.
The kitchen was opened enough to allow a clean line of sight. Even the load-bearing wall features a high arch, making it less of an obstacle. One side of the kitchen is the cooking and prep area. It features a small, split-level island with bar seating.
The cabinets are finished in dark brown, repeated in the cabinets off to the side that houses the microwave and refrigerator. This same dark wood is repeated in the bar stools near the island and the bar area.
All the countertops use white, brown, and gray marble, adding visual interest. The organic speckles and lines of the countertop help break up the highly structured cabinets with their straight lines and beveled look.
Hidden just behind the main kitchen is a small wine cellar with more storage. This is perfect for tucking away anything they do not want their guests to see, such as spare linens and other cooking tools.
The flooring is a cream tile that matches a slightly lighter backsplash. It also provides extra warmth to an already cozy kitchen. It gives the kitchen an Old World feel, like an Italian villa. Though more modern, it still exudes the charm of this design style. Even the bright silver of the appliances and pendant lighting are softer with abundant warm tones.
